报告摘要：The Cybersecurity Dynamics framework weinitiated aims to build a systematic foundation for modeling, analyzing, andquantifying cybersecurity from a holistic perspective. The framework offers asystematic x-y-z-t “coordinate system” for investigating cybersecurity, wherethe x-axis represents first-principle modeling (analogous to TheoreticalPhysics research for understanding the Universe), the y-axis represents dataanalytics (analogous to Experimental Physics research for understanding theUniverse), the z-axis represents metrics (analogous to defining notions such asMass and Energy for understanding the Universe), and the t-axis represents time(meaning that everything evolves over time). The framework is multidisciplinaryand interdisciplinary in nature because it cuts across disciplines includingComputer Science (including Security), Applied Mathematics (broadly defined,including Stochastic Processes, Dynamical Systems, Control Theory, GameTheory), Statistics, Machine Learning, Statistical Physics, Complexity Science,and Network Science. In this talk, I will review the Cybersecurity Dynamicsframework and highlight some advancement in the x-axis (i.e., first-principlemodeling) and future research directions. 报告人简介：Shouhuai Xu is a Full Professor in theDepartment of Computer Science, University of Texas at San Antonio. He is thefounding Director of the Laboratory for Cybersecurity Dynamics. He isinterested in both theoretical and practical cybersecurity research. Hisresearch has been funded by AFOSR, ARL, ARO, NSF and ONR. He co-initiated theInternational Conference on Science of Cyber Security (http://www.sci-cs.net/),the first edition of which (SciSec’2018) will be held in Beijing, August 12-14,2018. He also co-initiated the ACM Scalable Trusted Computing Workshop(ACM STC). He is/was a Program Committee co-chair of SciSec’18, ICICS’18,NSS’15 and Inscrypt’13. He has served on the Program Committees of numerousinternational conferences. He was/is an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactionson Dependable and Secure Computing (IEEE TDSC), IEEE Transactions onInformation Forensics and Security (IEEE T-IFS), and IEEE Transactions onNetwork Science and Engineering (IEEE TNSE). He received his PhD in ComputerScience from Fudan University.
